JAMMU, Apr 20: The grand finale of the Dogri language competition was successfully held today at MAM College, Jammu. The event was organized by the Senior Citizens Support Service Club to promote the Dogri language among students up to the 10th class. More than 40 students participated, showcasing their talents in front of a distinguished panel of judges and an appreciative audience.
Sanjna Rajput from SIRAS School, Jammu clinched the 1st position, followed by Nitika from Jammu Sanskriti School (2nd place) and Tarushi from Model Academy (3rd place). The top three winners received cash prizes of Rs 5100, Rs 3100, and Rs 2100 respectively. All participants were awarded certificates for their efforts and enthusiasm.
Archna Koul, Principal of MAM College, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. She commended Dr. Kasturi Lal Mahajan, President of the club, for his ongoing efforts in promoting Dogri through various activities such as poetry, drama, dance, and public displays.
Veteran Bollywood director Ravi Kemu, son of renowned Dogri writer Moti Lal Kemu, also addressed the gathering. He emphasized the importance of preserving one’s mother tongue amidst the growing influence of Western culture.
The event was graced by several eminent personalities from the fields of literature, culture, and education, including Sudhir Mahajan, Kailash Langer, Dr. Susheel Bhola, Capt. Lalit Sharma, Shambu Ram, Santosh Sangra, Lalita Tapasvi, Vijay Sharma, Rajeshwar Singh Raju, Rajneesh Kumar Gupta, Rajesh Raina, Raj Rishi, Pushpa Bharti, Dr. Padam Malhar, Sanjay Rohmetra, Rishab Manhas, and Rajinder Narang, a well-known Dogri writer. Prof. R.D. Sharma, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu, also attended the event and appreciated the initiative.
