KATHUA, Mar 9: The District Kathua Deadlift Competition 2025 concluded at Rivaz Palace, Kathua, with over 60 athletes participating in various categories, including Sub-Junior, Junior, Senior and Master. The event showcased outstanding performances, with Garjeet Singh, a J&K Police officer, lifting 230 kg to become the Best Lifter (Men). In the women’s category, Ritika Singh lifted 127.5 kg, earning the title of Best Lifter (Women).
The event was inaugurated by Ranjit Singh Pathania and Ravindra Kumar Sharma, President of the Kathua Powerlifting Association. The closing ceremony was attended by MLA Kathua Dr. Bharat Bhushan, DDC Vice President Raghunandan Singh Jasrotia, and Shabeel Ahmed, General Secretary of the Powerlifting Association. During the ceremony, Shabeel Ahmed raised a key demand for providing job opportunities to national medalists under SRO 330. The event was a grand success, uniting the powerlifting community in Kathua.
