JAMMU, Feb 12: Jammu University continued their strong run in the North Zone Inter-University Cricket Tournament 2024-25 with a commanding victory over Technical University Uttarakhand. In the match, Jammu University post a challenging total of 192/7 in their allotted 20 overs after being asked to bat first.
Govind was the star of the innings, scoring a brilliant 72 runs, while Ishan Bali contributed a valuable 62. The strong partnership between the two built a solid foundation for the team, despite Uttarakhand’s bowlers, Aditya and Deepak Joshi, claiming two wickets each. Their efforts, however, were insufficient to stop the powerful Jammu University batting lineup from reaching a formidable total.
In reply, Uttarakhand’s chase faltered as they were bundled out for just 77 runs in 16.3 overs. Jammu University’s bowlers were in scintillating form, with Govind continuing his exceptional performance by claiming 3 wickets for just 18 runs from his 4 overs. Captain Vikshay Vashist also played a crucial role with the ball, taking 2 wickets for 16 runs in his 4 overs, leading his team to an impressive victory.
Uttarakhand’s top performers were Yash Parthak, who scored 32 runs and Vickey Kumar, who contributed 19 runs. Unfortunately, the rest of the Uttarakhand side struggled to cope with the disciplined and tight bowling attack from Jammu University.
After the match, Jammu University’s captain, Vikshay Vashist, expressed confidence in his team’s future performances, saying, “We are constantly improving and will continue to give our best in the upcoming matches.”
