POONCH, Feb 9: The District Poonch Wushu Championship, organized by the District Poonch Wushu Association under the aegis of the Wushu Association of J&K and supported by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, concluded today at the Poonch Martial Art Academy. The championship, which saw the participation of over 130 players, featured categories for children under 5, 7, 9, and 14 years (Sub-Junior), 14 to 17 years (Junior), and above 18 years (Senior) in both boys and girls divisions.
The closing ceremony was graced by Raizada Sorabh Bali, as the chief guest, while Saval Ahmed Sheikh was the observer for the event, was the guest of honour. Other dignitaries present included Priyanka Singh, president of the district Poonch Wushu Association and several prominent figures from the local sports community.
The overall trophy was awarded to Poonch Wushu Club, recognizing their exceptional performance. Mohd Irfan was adjudged the Best Male Player in the Under 14 Sub-Junior Boys category, and Gurnoor Kaur was named Best Player in the Under 5 Girls category. The gold medallists will now represent District Poonch in the upcoming 18th UT Jammu and Kashmir Wushu Championship. The event was technically supervised by Parveen Kour, National Wushu player.
