JKFA holds selection trials for 35th Senior National Fencing C’ship

JAMMU, Dec 13: The J&K Fencing Association (JKFA) has conducted selection trials for the 35th Senior National Fencing Championship 2024-25 recently at the Fencing Hall, MA Stadium in Jammu, with over 70 fencers from various districts, including Ramban, Samba, Jammu, Poonch, Doda, Udhampur and Reasi participated.
Among them were 15 fencers who had represented India in international competitions. The trials were supervised by a committee from the J&K Sports Council, including Rachna Jamwal (Senior Fencing Coach), Shotu Lal Sharma (Fencing Instructor), and Joginder Kumar (Photographer), while the selection process was managed by the JKFA’s selection committee, consisting of several prominent fencing experts.
The selected fencers will now represent J&K at the 35th Senior National Fencing Championship, which will be held in Kannur, Kerala, from December 31 to 3rd January. This championship will also serve as a qualifying event for the 38th National Games, which will take place in Uttarakhand from January 28 to February 14.
The list of selected fencers include: Shivansh Kapoor, Sufyan Waheed Sohil, Ajay Kumar, Sohit Thakur, Tariq Husain (Standby), Shreya Gupta, Rishika Khajuria, Kritharthi Kotwal, Chhavi Sharma, Ashu Rani (Standby), Riya Bakshi, Shriya Sharma, Simarleen Kaur, Vanya Gupta, Mansi Sharma (Standby), Apsha Gulzar, Pihul Rajput, Shilpa Khajuria, Diksha Rajput, Pranay Singh, Shresth Dogra, Chahat Singh, Rampal, Manjot Sharma (Standby), Vishal Thapar, Udhayveer Singh Chandel, Sagar Sahi, Suryansh Sharma and Amit Chib (Standby).
