JAMMU, Nov 13: Fencers from Manipur displayed remarkable skill and determination as they clinched twin Gold medals in the U-14 Boys Epee and Sabre events at the ongoing 68th National School Games at the University of Jammu’s Gymnasium Hall.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra’s U-14 Girls Foil team triumphed to win the Gold, and the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) team bagged a Silver medal in the U-14 Boys Sabre event.
In the U-14 Boys Sabre team event, J&K’s team, comprising Devkaran Singh, Parv Mahajan, Harnidh Singh and Shivansh Sharma, showed exceptional prowess to secure Silver, while Punjab took the Gold. Maharashtra and Punjab shared the Bronze. In the U-14 Boys Epee event, Manipur emerged victorious with the Gold, leaving the Silver for the DAV College Managing Committee, while Punjab and CBSE Welfare Sports Organisation claimed Bronze.
The U-14 Girls Foil event saw Maharashtra winning the Gold, followed by Manipur with Silver, and Gujarat and Delhi sharing the Bronze.
The medal winners were felicitated by Ved Prakash, Joint Director of Youth Services and Sports Jammu, in the presence of various dignitaries. This event is part of the historic series of Nationals hosted by Jammu, with 4000 athletes expected to participate across multiple disciplines like Judo, Fencing, Wushu and Football.
