SAMBA, Oct 17: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Dogra College of Education hosted a two-day series of extension lectures on “Herbartian and RCEM Approaches”. The event, held in the Conference Hall of Dogra Educational Complex, saw participation from 30 students of the B.Ed. program (Semester 3, Session 2023-25), creating a vibrant learning environment.
The lectures were inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by distinguished guests, followed by a welcome address from Dr Shefali Sharma, IQAC Coordinator. She stressed the importance of these lectures for faculty development and for shaping future educators.
Dr. Sushma Bala, Associate Professor at Government College of Education, Jammu, was the resource person. On the first day, Dr. Bala explained the Herbartian approach and its five-step process: preparation, presentation, association, generalization, and application. The second day focused on the RCEM approach, integrating traditional and modern educational techniques, emphasizing the development of 17 mental abilities. The lectures included interactive Q&A sessions, and the program concluded with a vote of thanks by Vintee Kumari, Senior Lecturer, Dogra College of Education.
