JAMMU, Oct 16: In the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Sports Tournament, hosted by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education at the University of Jammu, saw thrilling competitions across Basketball, Table Tennis, and Kabaddi. The events, which drew enthusiastic participation from various colleges, are part of the university’s commitment to promoting sportsmanship and athletic excellence.
In Basketball, the men’s semi-finals witnessed GDC Kunjwani outplaying BDC Udhampur with an 11-point lead, while the PG Deptt team secured a 10-point victory over GDC Kathua to book their place in the finals. The third-place match in the men’s section was a close contest, with BDC Udhampur edging past GDC Kathua by 2 points. In the women’s category, MIET dominated GDC Khilotran, securing third place with a 17-point win.
The Table Tennis quarter-finals also saw intense matches; GCET Jammu overcame GDC Poonch in a nail-biting 3-2 victory, while GDC Udhampur easily triumphed over MIET Jammu with a 3-0 score. GMC Doda bested GDC Kathua 3-1, and ASCOMS Jammu defeated PG Deptt by 3-1, advancing to the semi-finals.
In the ongoing Kabaddi tournament, the PG Deptt secured a commanding 20-point win over GDC Basohli, while MIET emerged victorious against GDC Akhnoor by 12 points. GDC Kathua showcased their dominance with a 25-point win over GDC Vijaypur, and GDC Samba defeated GDC RS Pura by 19 points. GDC Bhaderwah had a solid 18-point victory over GDC Reasi, while GCET Jammu comfortably beat GDC Hiranagar by 25 points. Later, GDC Ghagwal caused an upset by defeating PG Deptt. by 5 points, and GDC Kathua continued their winning streak by beating MIET by 6 points. In the final rounds, GDC Bhaderwah secured an 8-point win over GDC Samba, and GCET Jammu defeated GNC Jammu by 17 points.
