JAMMU, Oct 13: The Veteran Cricket Association J&K XI continued its impressive performance in the Inter-State Veteran T20 Cricket Championship, defeating Chandigarh Veterans by 25 runs and taking a 2-0 lead in the series.
Winning the toss, J&K captain Vivek Suri chose to bat first, and his decision paid off. The opening duo of Amit Kumar and Sunil Sharma launched a powerful assault, with Sunil scoring a blistering century in just 50 balls. Their partnership produced a staggering 179 runs, with Sunil finishing on 120 runs and Amit contributing 53 runs. J&K posted a formidable total of 219 runs for 2 wickets.
In response, Chandigarh Veterans began their chase positively, with captain Ashwani Koul and Rahul putting on a strong start. However, after Rahul’s dismissal for 66 runs, the innings faltered despite Shubham (58 runs) and Deepak (26 runs) attempting to consolidate. Chandigarh ended their innings at 194 runs for 7 wickets.
Vivek Suri shone with the ball, taking 3 wickets, while Akash Kohli and Ashish Singh claimed 2 wickets each. Sunil Sharma was named Player of the Match. The final match of the series is set to take place tomorrow.
