Kaw, Sahil, Ashwani, Sanjay guide PAG to finals

JAMMU, Mar 7: After scoring a thunderous ton on the other day, first-class cricketer Vimarsh Kaw scored superb 58 runs, coupled with magnificent 75 runs by Sahil Bhalwal, quick-fire 44 by Sanjay Sharma and brilliant bowling display by experienced Ashwani Gupta helped PAG XI to thrash Income Tax Department by 81 runs in the T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by the Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee, under the supervision of Rakesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner Income Tax at MA Stadium, here.
Earlier batting first, star-studded PAG XI scored a mammoth total of 199 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Sahil Bhalwal was the top scorer with 75 runs off 49 balls, studded with 7 boundaries, while Vimarsh Kaw scored 58 off 44 balls, with 6 fours and one six and Sanjay Sharma contributed power-packed 44 off just 17 balls including 4 fours and 3 sixes. For Income Tax Department, Muneer took 2 wickets, while Khazan Singh claimed one.
In reply, Income Tax Department bundled out for 118 runs in 16.4 overs, thus lost the match by a big margin of 81 runs. Naresh Kumar top scored with 57 runs off just 26 balls, which included 6 delectable boundaries and one six, while Akhlesh Mishra chipped in with 16 runs off 13 balls. For PAG XI, skipper Ashwani Gupta was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 important wickets by conceding 16 runs in his 4 overs, while Anoop Mangotra scalped 2 wickets by giving away 17 runs in his 3 overs. Rahil Singh, Sanjay Sharma and Sahil Bhalwal claimed one wicket each.
The match was officiated by PS Jamwal and Sham Lal as umpires, while Surinder Mohan and Sunil Khar were the scorers.
Survey of India will take on NSSO in another semifinal on March 10, 2014 at the same venue.
