JAMMU, Jan 12: The week-long Golf Coaching Camp organized by JK Golf Association (JKGA) in close coordination with Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department concluded here at Jammu Golf Club, Sidhra.
Over 50 amateur golfers drawn from different parts of the region and educational institutions participated in the camp and learnt basic tips from nationally acclaimed PGTI coach Sundeep Verma who was especially invited from Delhi for the purpose.
Speaking on the occasion, vice president of the organising committee, SS Wazir (Retd. Additional Director General of Police – ADGP) said that this was the first ever caching camp organized in Jammu which benefited many budding golfers and provided junior golfers a lifetime opportunity to learn incredible golf instruction from Delhi based Coach.
He said that junior golfers had a great time on the course by interacting with senior golfers as well.
Mr Wazir said that players were given first hand instructions, had daily course play, received golfing instructions and participated in the camp tournaments as well.
The tournament was followed by a short graduation ceremony after which prizes, certificates and awards were given to contests who played friendly matches on last day of the week at Sidhra Golf Course.
Executive Committee member, JKGA Sanjay Wahi and PGTI coach Sandeep Verma popularly known as Chimi also spoke on the occasion.
JKGA officials including Treasurer R S Bali besides K K Khosa, Vinod Sharma, D S Bali and Deepak Handa also provided their support in making the camp a grand success by enabling participants to having a tailor made and best ever training programme in Jammu.
Later prizes were given to winners of friendly matches. Ragini stood first and Mekah Dua second in girls’ category for putting. In chip putting of boys section Vedant Handa bagged first prize while Siddharth Dhar bagged second prize.
In kids section of putting, Aashman Kapoor stood first while Arsh Vimal stood second. In senior Chip Pitting section of senior category Vikram Kapoor bagged first prize while second prize went to Dinesh Sharma. Divij Singh, Lavanaya and Raunak Gupta were awarded prices in budding golfers’ category.
