JAMMU, Nov 9: The SKUAST-Jammu team defeated Panjab University (PU) Chandigarh by 21 runs in the ongoing All India Vice Chancellor’s T-20 Cricket Tournament, being played at CCS, Haryana University Hisar, today.
Batting first, the SKUAST-J team scored 123 by losing 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs wherein Niraj Manhas made 58 runs in 40 balls, studded with 2 sixes and 9 boundaries, while Shambu, Manjeet and Vinod scored 16 ,13 and 12 runs respectively for the team.
In reply, Panjab University Chandigarh could not chase the set target and were bound out at 102 runs in 19 overs. From the bowling side, Niraj bowled economically and took 3 wickets by giving 10 runs in his 4 overs, while Rajinder Singh, Dr BN Singh secured 2 wickets each and Shamsdin and Manjeet took 1 wicket each for SKUAST team.
Niraj Manhas was declared as player of the match for his outstanding performance with both ball and bat.
Now, the SKUAST-Jammu will play against the University of Mumbai in the next match.
