JAMMU, Oct 2: The University of Jammu in collaboration with Fist Fighter Club organised the 2nd edition of the half marathon to commemorate 153rd Gandhi Jayanti, here today.
Vice Chancellor, Prof Umesh Rai was the chief guest who flagged off the marathon rally to cherish and rejuvenate ideas propounded by Mahatma Gandhi. Prof Rai also launched Swachhta Abhiyan in the Campus and urged that the University must endeavour to follow the vision of the Prime Minister.
The Vice-Chancellor further added that under NEP-20, Sports is an integral part of the curriculum. Prof Rai on the occasion congratulated organisers and the non-teaching employees union for choosing 2nd of October as an occasion where members of the University of Jammu and the civil society got together to pay tribute to Father of the Nation.
Prof Prakash Anathal, DSW, former Minister RS Chib and SSP Randhir Singh were the special guests on the occasion. The Vice-Chancellor in presence of dignitaries also distributed the medals and trophies to the winner and the runner-up of the marathon.
