REASI, Mar 15: UT level Inter-District Fencing Championship, inaugurated by District Development Commissioner, Babila Rakwal at Indoor Sports Complex Mari, here today.
The championship was organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports wherein Mool Raj (Assistant Director) YSS Jammu division was the special guest in presence of DYSSO Reasi and others.
Teams from different districts including Doda, Reasi, Samba, Udhampur, Jammu, Anantnag and Srinagar are participating in the championship.
The Deputy Commissioner said efforts will be made to promote sports culture in Reasi. She appreciated the department concerned for organizing UT level competitions in the district and added that such big sports events provide an open platform to youth for inter-cultural exchanges which strengthens the bonds of unity and brotherhood amongst the students.
The DC urged the students to focus on their studies and the sport of their choice simultaneously which are necessary for their overall personality development.
In foil Under-17, Rakshit and Channkaya won top two medals, while Aditya and Bhanu shared bronze medal. In under-17 epee, Rinku and Vansh clinched gold and silver, while Asrar and Musaib shared bronze medal.
The matches were officiated by the panel of technical experts including Ujwal Gupta, Shaifali Gupta, Arun Dev Singh, Anoop Jyoti, Goutam Kundal, Rajesh Kumar, Ajay Kumar, Javed Kumar, Ashok Kumar and Asha Devi.
