District Athletic Meet gets underway at Subash Stadium

UDHAMPUR, Dec 11: District Athletic Meet, organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports for boys and girls in all age groups, got underway at Subash Stadium, here today.
About 390 boys and 138 girls drawn from different 11 zones of District Udhampur participated in the Meet, which was organized under the patronageship of Gazanfar Ali, Director Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) J&K and under the overall supervision of DYSSO Udhampur, Swaran Singh.
The DYSSO Udhampur along with Kartar Singh, ZPEO Majalta and Satish Kumar, ZPEO Babey declared the meet open.
In boys category, 100 mtrs under-14, Mangu Ram of Majalta zone and Mohit Sharma of Tikri zone stood 1st and 2nd respectively, while 100 mtrs under-17, Rakshu Sharma and Ashish Singh of Udhampur remained 1st and 2nd and in 200 mtrs under-17, the first and 2nd places were secured by Varun Verma of Jib and Ajay Gouria of Majalta respectively, besides in 200 mtrs under-19, the top two medals were won by Major Singh of Udhampur and Sahil Kumar of Jib, whereas in 1500 mtrs under-19, Suryansh Sharma of Udhampur and Jeewan Singh of Majalta clinched gold and silver medals respectively and in long jump under-14, top two places were clinched by Punit Singh and Karan Singh of Babey stood 1st and 2nd respectively.
In long jump under-17, top two places were won by Arun Kumar of Babey and Anish Sadotra of Udhampur, while in Long Jump under-19, Ajit Singh Raja of Tikri and Surinder Singh of Panchari stood 1st and 2nd and in Discus Throw under-14, Nowpal Singh and Rishu Kumar of Udhampur bagged 1st and 2nd respectively, besides in discus throw under-17, top two places were won by Pardeep Singh and Jitender Singh of Udhampur respectively, while in Discus Throw under-19, Raj Kumar of Tikri and Major Singh of Udhampur won top two positions and in shot put throw, under-14, Shubham and Parshotam Kumar of Udhampur clinched 1st and 2nd places respectively.
Moreover, in shot put throw, under-17, the first two places were secured by Raghubir Singh from Tikri and Ajay Singh from Jib and in Shot Put Throw under-17, Aman Sharma of Majalta and Nitish Singh of Ghordi stood 1st and 2nd respectively.
In girls category 100 mtrs under-19, 1st and 2nd positions were won by Shabina Bibi of Udhampur and Arti Devi of Majalta, whereas in Shot Put Throw under-14, Diksha and Supriya Rani from Udhampur zone clinched 1st and 2nd places respectively and in Shot Put Throw under-17, Sushma Devi from Tikri and Kiran Sharma from Ghori won 1st and 2nd places respectively, besides in shot put throw under-19, the first two medals were secured by Vishali Sharma of Majalta and Anjalai of Ghordi respectively, whereas in long jump under-14, the top two medals were bagged by Kritika of Udhampur and Mansi Devi of Majalta and in long jump under-17, Jyoti Devi from Babey and Rachna Devi from Udhampur remained 1st and 2nd respectively.
In long jump under-19, Priyanka Sharma of Jib and Rita Devi of Udhampur claimed 1st and 2nd places respectively, whereas in Discus Throw under-14, top two medals were secured by Anshika Sharma and Nidhi Sharma of Tikri who stood 1st and 2nd respectively and in Discus Throw under-17, the top two medals were won by Sonali and Shepali from Udhampur respectively, besides in Discus Throw under-19, Omati Devi and Arti Devi of Udhampur grabbed 1st and 2nd spots respectively.
The officials who conducted the Athletic meet were Raj Kumar Dogra, Rakesh Kumar, Swarandep Singh, Rakesh Sawhney, Pooja Sharma, Rishi Kumar Sharma, Sourab Pandit, Vipin Photra, Ravi Kumar and Sudesh Kumar.
