Athletics Meet concludes at GCW Gandhi Nagar

JAMMU/UDHAMPUR, Nov 18: Zone Dansal shined in Athletics Meet by winning maximum Gold medals in All Age Group (AAG) girls category, organised by the Department of Youth Services & Sports (DYSS), Jammu district at Government Women College Gandhi Nagar, here today.
About 160 competitors from all 14 zones of District Jammu took part in this meet.
The meet was organized under the chairmanship of Gazanfer Ali, Director Youth Services & Sports J&K UT Jammu and under overall supervision of DYSSO Jammu Sukhdev Raj Sharma, wherein Dr Sangita Nagri, College Principal was the chief guest on the inaugural function. The participants took part in various events like 100 metres, 600 metres, 800 metres, 1500 metres, long jump, triple jump, discus throw, shot put and javelin throw.
DYSSO Jammu interacted with participants and advised them to show their hidden talent in the best way during the meet. The main focus of the meet was to select the best athletes for the next level of competitions coming ahead.
In 100 metres under-14 girls category, Lakshmi Devi of Zone Khour, Mansi Chib of Zone RS Pura and Shamima Akhter of Zone Miran Sahib stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, whereas in 200 metres, Mamta Yadav of RS Pura, Radhika Rani of Satwari and Diya Chib of Miran Sahib remained 1st, 2nd and 3rd and in 600 metres, top three places were clinched by Mahi Sharma of GHS Khui Milan, Tania Devi of Dansal and Manya Sharma of  Jammu Sanskriti respectively, besides in high jump under-14 girls category, Mansi Chib of RS Pura, Sapna Devi of Khour and Komal Kumari of Marh won top three places, while in long jump, Mamta of Gandhi Nagar, Sonia Sharma of Bishnah and Lakshmi Devi of Khour clinched top three places respectively and in shot put, Anshika Devi of Akhnoor, Tanvi of RS Pura and Vaishali of Khour bagged top three positions, moreover, in discus throw, Krishta of Gandhi Nagar, Janvi of RS Pura and Shaimbi of Bishnah stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
In 100 metres under-17 girls, top three places were secured by Sidani Singh of Jammu, Simranjot Kour of Satwari and Jasbir Kour of RS Pura respectively, whereas in 800 metres, Parveen Akhter of Marh, Sanna Akhter of Dansal and Shivani Devi of Chowki Choura bagged top three places and in 1500 metres, top three places were clinched by Shabia Akhter of Dansal, Samriti Sharma of GHS Sunail and Shamli Devi of Gandhi Nagar respectively, besides in long jump, Chetna Kumari of Bishnah, Jasbir Kour of RS Pura and Reet won top three positions, in 300 metres, Shina Akhter from Dansal, Arti Devi of Satwari and Usma of Jammu clinched top three places, in javelin throw, Sumidha of Bhalwal, Anjali of RS Pura and Upeksha of Bishnah stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
In 100 metres under-19 girls, top three positions were bagged by Sakshi Devi of Dansal, Tannu of Jammu and Sonali of Gandhi Nagar, whereas in 200 metres, Tannu of Jammu, Shivani of Satwari and Diksha of Dansal stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively and in 800 metres, Sakshi Devi of Dansal, Marina Bibi of Gandhi Nagar and Janvi of Jammu clinched top three places respectively, besides in 1500 metres, Babli Devi of Dansal, Simran of Bhalwal and Prem Lata of Jammu stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, while in long jump, first three places were clinched by Babli Devi of Dansal, Rakhi Devi of Khour and Priya Bhagat of Miran Sahib respectively and in shot put, 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions were clinched by Tania of Miran Sahib, Sheetal of Khour and Parvi of Gandhi Nagar respectively.
Meanwhile, Department of Youth Services and Sports Udhampur also organized District level Athletic Meet for boys in AAG at Subhash Stadium, Udhampur.
About 180 boys drawn from different 10 Zones of Udhampur participated.
In 100 metres, Daljeet Anthal of Udhampur, Sachin Kumar of Jib and Sachin Kumar of Jib stood 1st in under-19, 17 and 14 categories respectively, in 200 metres Samarjeet Singh of Ramnagar, Anish Sadotra of Udhampur and Mangu Ram of Majalta bagged top three places in under-19, 17 and 14 categories and in 400 metres, Vaneesh of Udhampur, Shiv Dev of Ghordi and Rakesh Kumar of Ramnagar stood 1st in under-19, 17 and 14 categories respectively.
In shot put, Arun Kumar of Ramnagar, Pardeep Singh of Udhampur and Shubam of Ramnagar clinched 1st positions in under-19, 17 and 14 categories respectively, whereas in long jump, Akshit Sharma of Ramnagar and Arun Kumar of Babey remained 1st in under 19 and 17 categories respectively, besides in high jump, Ajit Singh of Tikri and Arun Bansal of Chenani bagged top positions in under-19 and 17 categories respectively.
