TRAL, July 16: Terming youth as the future hope of a society, Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today said the Government has drawn up an extensive plan to channelize their potential in positive ways and make them responsible citizens of tomorrow.
Addressing a public meeting at adjacent Dever village today, the Minister said the Government wishes to give a better and congenial atmosphere to youth who have suffered immensely during the last 20 years or so.
Mr Taj said the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has approved a Rs. 700 crore package to J&K to re build and strengthen its sports infrastructure. He said as per this package every panchayat would have a sports field and every block would have a sports complex comprising an indoor stadium.
The Minister said he has asked all the Deputy Commissioners to identify land in respective blocks so that the same is developed as sports complex.
Besides, Taj said, every school would be equipped with sports equipment and kits and every school would have teams in cricket, football and hockey.
Mr. Taj announced the construction of a sports complex at Tral worth Rs. 5 crore. The complex would have facilities of both indoor and outdoor games besides making available latest equipment and gadgetry. He also announced distribution of sports kits among various teams of the town.
Former Legislator, Haji Rasheed and prominent activist of the area S Surinder Singh Channi also spoke on the occasion.
