JAMMU, Sept 29: Led by international player from Jammu and Kashmir Akash Batra, the North Zone team today emerged champion in the All India Inter-Zone Netball Championship which was concluded at New Delhi.
Considering his performance in the Interstate North Zone tournament, Akash was named as captain of the North Zone in the Inter-Zonal National level competition.
Akash’s sheer experience in the field expertise and tactical statistics helped the North Zone team to beat the Central Zone team in the title clash. Earlier, North Zone defeated West Zone in the semi-finals.
Pertinent to mention that Akash has also got the distinction of being an International qualified referee with an ‘A’ graded certificate course from NS, NIS, Patiala. He even had an opportunity to teach a certificate course under NS, NIS Patiala.
Earlier, Akash was appreciated by the Sports Officer of J&K Sports Council, Ashok Singh for his selection as North Zone captain. Akash’s selection and performance was also endorsed by other senior officers of the J&K Sports Council.
