Bangalore, July 12: Ace womam cueist Chitra Magimairaj was today facilitated by the Karnataka State Billiards Association for winning the first ever medal for India in Asian Indoor Games and for becoming the first women in cue sports to win a medal.
KSBA President Balasubramaniam hoped this will set a benchmark for cuesports ladies to achieve much more.
Chitra was presented a purse of Rs 20,000 for winning the bronze medal.
Thanking Mr Balasubramaniam & BSFI for all their efforts in sending the team to the Asian Indoor Games with out which this achievement would not have been possible, Chitra said, ‘It was a very emotional day, winning the medal without National flag and anthem’.
Chitra said she is dedicating the medal to her family, who have stood by and supported her from a very young age to pursue her dreams.
Chitra is the only Indian Women Cuesports player who has participated in all 5 games–Asian Games (Doha, Qatar 2006, Guangzhou, China 2010). Asian Indoor Games (Macau, China 2007, Ho Chi Minh City 2009, Incheon, Korea 2013.)
She won the first ever medal for India under OCA Banner as independent Olympic Athletes in Asian Indoor Games, Korea. (UNI)
