Birpur CC lifts Gen Baj Singh trophy

JAMMU, Feb 21: Birpur Cricket Club defeated Gen Baj Singh Cricket Club Badhori in the final and lifted the General Baj Singh Trophy, played at Gen Baj Singh Ground Badhori Bari Brahmana, here today.
Former Minister and senior National Conference leader Surjeet Singh Slathia was the chief guest who said that sports offer abundant career openings and urged budding sportspersons to give their best to the chosen game to achieve heights.
Slathia lauded the camaraderie among the sportspersons, saying this is imperative for harmonious growth of the society.
Slathia also complimented the organizers Pankaj Atish, Kulbir Slathia and Rajan Jamwal for holding the event, saying this will go a long way in showcasing the talent of the budding cricketers, which will eventually inspire youngsters to opt for sports in a big way.
Later, Slathia presented winning trophy along with cash prize of Rs 21000 to Birpur CC and runner up trophy along with cash prize of Rs 7000 to Gen Baj Singh Cricket Club Badhori.
Besides, a large number of sports enthusiasts, prominent among those present at the finals included DDC Member Bari Brahmana, Suraya Begum, district vice president National Conference Vijay Singh and Naib Sarpanch Badhori Gotam Singh.
