JAMMU, May 12: Toppling Romit Sharma by two sets to one (2-1) in men’s summit clash, Deepak Singh Chib lifted the title trophy in the Hari Singh Memorial Tennis Tournament, organized by Friends Tennis Club in collaboration with J&K Lawn Tennis Association at Tennis Court Revenue Complex, Gole Gujral, here today.
Deepak defeated Romit by (4-6, 6-4, 6-2) in a good contest. After trailing by one set, Deepak came back strongly to win the final by (2-1).
RS Chib, former Minister for Sports, Medical Education and Technical Education was chief guest on the occasion, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up players.
Earlier, in Under-12 boys final, Aryaman defeated Manas by (4-2, 2-4,12-10), while in Under-14 girls, Pawan drubbed Nitika by (4-2, 4-2) in best of 3 sets.
In women’s title clash, Deepanshi defeated Khushboo by (6-2, 6-4) to claim the title, while in Under-18 boys doubles final, Chakshu and Moksh got better of Vinay and Ishan by (6-3,7-5)
In men’s doubles, Romit and Deepak prevailed over Vikram and Gourav by (6-1, 6-4) in best of 3 sets.
In mixed doubles, Romit and Khushboo defeated Deepak and Deepanshi (8-4) in best of 15 games.
Meanwhile, in Under-14 boys, Chakshu defeated Aman (4-0, 4-2), while in Under-14 girls doubles, Ananya and Archit defeated Arihant and Aman (2-4, 4-3, 7-3, 0-8).
In Under-18 boys, Chakshu outplayed Abhilove (6-4, 6-2) to win the title.
