Samar Club enters BPL T20 finals

JAMMU, May 12: Registering a comfortable win by 5 wickets over Hargun Cricket Club in the semifinals, Samar Cricket Club has made it to the finals of the ongoing Baisakhi Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Diamond Cricket Club at Boys High School Simbal Camp, near here.
Earlier, batting first, Hargun Club scored a modest total of 118 runs in the stipulated 20 overs by losing 9 wickets. Jatin top scored with 25 runs, studded with 3 boundaries, while Nishu and Vikrant contributed 17 and 16 runs to the total respectively. Naushad was the pick of the bowlers for Samar Club, scalping 3 important wickets by conceding 17 runs in his 4 overs, while left-arm spinner Rohit Sharma took 2 wickets in his 4 overs by giving away 18 runs. Kamal Kishore, Monu and Vishwajeet claimed one wickets each.
In reply, Samar Club chased the target easily in 15 overs by losing 5 wickets to win the match by 5 wickets. Monu was the top scorer with 40 runs, while Naushad scored 28 runs. Sidharth Magotra and Chetan Singh Chib contributed 22 and 12 runs to the total respectively. For Hargun Club, Jatin and Dilbag calimed 2 wickets each, while Nishu bagged one. Naushad of Samar Cricket Club was adjudged man of the match for his all-round show.
The match was officiated by Kulbir Singh (PEM) and Harcharan as umpires, while Nitu was the scorer. The tournament is being held under the overall supervision of GS Michael, organizing secretary.
