SRINAGAR, May 12: The J&K National Sports Club is organizing Kashmir Gold Cup Hockey Tournament -2013 from August 26, 2013.
This information was given at a meeting of Executive Members of J&K National Sports Club, Srinagar held here today under the chairmanship of President J&K National Sports Club, R G N Wani.
The inaugural ceremony will be held at Polo Ground, Srinagar at 3.30 p.m. The leading hockey teams of the country are expected to be participated in the tournament. The league matches of the tournament would be played at Rajbagh, Playground, while as semi-finals and final of the tournament would be played at Bakshi Stadium.
Later, a delegation of Executive Members of J&K National Sports Club, Srinagar called on Dr Mustafa Kamaal and apprised him about the problems being faced by the hockey fraternity and hockey lovers.
The delegation apprised that due to lack of adequate and proper infrastructure, the hockey players are facing problems, adding that development of astro-turf playfield in Srinagar City is need of the hour, which is pending demand since long.
Dr Kamaal said that like other sports, remedial measures would be initiated for the revival of hockey in the State.
