Volleyball tournament commences

RESAI, Oct 22: Police Sub-Division Arnas today commenced Police Martyrs Volleyball tournament at Arnas Play Ground under Civic Action programme, here today.
Additional SP Reasi, Surjeet Kumar Bhagat inaugurated the tournament in the presence of SDPO Arnas Dr Satish Bhardwaj, SHO Arnas, Rajesh Gautam and prominent and respectable citizens of Arnas. Speaking on the occasion, Surjeet Kumar and SDPO Arnas highlighted the bravery, courage and valour of the martyrs and paid rich tributes to the martyred police personnel.
They said that our martyrs without caring for their lives fought till their last breath for peace of J&K and added that they gave supreme sacrifices of their lives while protecting and safeguarding the nation.
Addl SP further said that the police will organize more such sports events in near future for youth to excel in their respective sports field.
About eight teams are participating in the said tournament. The tournament is being played on knock-out bases and final of the tournament will be played on October 24 at the same venue.
Meanwhile, in the ongoing Police Martyrs Memorial Cricket Tournament being played at General Zorawar Singh Sports Stadium Reasi, the National CC Reasi and Hindustan Cricket Club Reasi will lock horns in the final match tomorrow.
In 1st semi-final match, Thanpal Cricket Club batting first scored 92 runs whereas National Cricket Club Reasi made 93 runs and won the match by 7 wickets whereas in 2nd semi-final match, Bhawani Cricket Club Katra batting first made 114 runs and its opponent team, Hindustan Cricket Club Reasi made 118 runs with 3 overs left and won the match by 5 wickets.
Chief Guest, Surjeet Kumar Bhagat, Addl SP Reasi was awarded Man of the Match to Jaswant of National Cricket Club Reasi for clinching 6 wickets whereas Shivam Gupta of Hindustan Cricket Club was also awarded with Man of the Match who scored 13 runs in eight balls with two boundaries and took 3 wickets in his inning.
