JAMMU, Oct 6: Board for Development of Sports in India (BDSI) is organizing 6th edition of Jammu Marathon on November 13.
This was disclosed by Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology Lal Singh, who is also Chairman of BDSI during a press conference here today.
He stated that this year Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has also joined hands with BDSI to make Jammu Marathon a national event and promote it throughout the country and internationally. The CII J&K State Council was represented by its State Head, Gaurav Mahajan and Vice Chairman Rahul Sahai alongwith Khurshid Dar, Executive Officer.
Minister stated that the Marathon will start at 8 am from MA Stadium, Jewel Chowk and will pass through Bus Stand, Shakuntla Theatre, Amphalla via BC Road, CPO Chowk, Kachi Chawni, Parade, Shalamar, Indira Chowk, Dogra Chowk and culminate at MA Stadium. The registration fee for the event is Rs 200 so that everybody could participate in the event, he added.
Minister disclosed that this year’s ‘Jammu Marathon’ is dedicated to our brave soldiers. The theme for 6th Jammu Marathon will be “Run for India! Run for Pride!!” he added. The slogan of the event will be “Hindustan Meri Jaan”.
On the occasion, the Minister also unveiled the “Campaign Banner” of a runner representing three colours.
“The entire campaign of the event is designed to honour our brave soldiers. Jammuites will run not only for sports but also for their nation”, he said, adding that it is very important to promote nationalism amongst youth and Jammu Marathon is big opportunity to show case our commitment.
Amit Sethi, President BDSI, Rahul Sahai, Vice Chairman, CII J&K State Council, Gaurav Mahajan, State Head of CII, Vimal Manchanda, Vice-President, Sanjay Gupta, Secretary, Sagar Gupta, Treasurer, Ajay Ahuja and Paramjeet Sharma were present during the press conference.
