SRINAGAR, Oct 28: The 69th National School Games in Wushu for under-17 boys and girls was inaugurated today at the Indoor Sports Complex, Wazir Bagh, Srinagar, organized by Directorate of Youth Services and Sports J&K under the aegis of the School Games Federation of India.
The event has attracted 41 teams from States, Union Territories and organizations nationwide, highlighting J&K as a prominent host for national sporting spectacles.
The opening ceremony was graced by Qazi Salman, Director PIB and RNU Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar, as chief guest, who lauded the gathering of young talent and emphasized sports as a catalyst for holistic development. Anuradha Gupta, DG YSS, extended best wishes to all participants and announced upcoming National School Games in Table Tennis and Taekwondo in Jammu.
Ghulam Hassan Lone, Organising Secretary, welcomed the athletes, highlighting the significance of hosting a national-level Championship in Kashmir. Guests of Honour included Kuldeep Handoo, India Chief Coach and CEO J&K Wushu Association and Ajay Singh Chandel, SGFI Field Official. Balbir Singh Sodhi, Assistant Director YSS Kashmir, along with District Youth Services and Sports Officers, also attended. The ceremony featured a vibrant march-past, Wushu demonstration bouts and the administration of the sports oath.
