JAMMU, Dec 1: The 68th National School Games U-17 Boys Football event, held at Sainik School Nagrota and Khel Gaon Nagrota, has seen intense competition with young footballers displaying remarkable mental toughness. The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) team experienced mixed fortunes on Day 1 and Day 2 of the event, securing a big win over CBSE but facing a defeat against Tamil Nadu.
This prestigious football tournament features over 4000 athletes and officials, with the U-17 Boys & Girls category being one of the key attractions.
J&K’s football team delivered a dominant performance in their match against CBSE, crushing them by 13-1, with goals from Hanan Ibrahim, Basit, Anwar, Faisal, Huzaif, Adnan, and Pranav. However, their victory was followed by a loss to Tamil Nadu, who triumphed by 6-2 in a competitive encounter. Other key results from the tournament saw Odisha and Bihar playing out a goalless draw, Lakshadweep defeating DNHDO by 8-0, and Rajasthan thrashing Himachal Pradesh by 8-1. Karnataka and Assam ended their game in a 2-2 draw, while Himachal Pradesh secured a 5-0 win over Bihar.
At Sainik School Nagrota’s Ground-3, Tamil Nadu defeated J&K by 6-2, while Chhattisgarh recorded a 2-0 victory over Puducherry. At Khel Gaon Nagrota, Chandigarh had a dominant 9-0 win over IBSO, and Meghalaya overcame Delhi by 5-1. Jammu and Kashmir’s performance, especially their massive win over CBSE, highlighted their growing potential at the national level.
