4th Mughal Road Car Rally concludes, Mir distributes prizes

SRINAGAR, June 30: Minister for Tourism, Ghulam Ahmad Mir gave away prizes to the winners of 4th Mughal Road Car Rally at SKICC here today.
The first prize of Rs 2 lakh and trophy was won by Amittrajit Ghosh and Ashwin Naik and second prize of Rs 1.25 lakh and trophy by Amanpreet Ahluwala and Sandeep Mansukhani, while as 3rd prize of Rs 1 lakh went to Aabhishek Mishra and Sudeep Halder.
In all 55 teams in both the categories Xtreme and Enduro of various States of the Country besides Germany participated in the rally with active participation of over120 rallyists. The teams of Jammu and Kashmir among which three participants were women also participated in the Rally.
The 3-day long 4th edition of Mughal Road Car Rally was the joint endeavour of the Tourism Department and the Jammu Kashmir Bank in collaboration with Himalayan Motor Sports, Shimla. This event is organized every year to harness the adventurous potential of the State of Jammu and Kashmir and to throw open the newly constructed roads and to make familiar the new areas hitherto less known to the outside world.
Earlier, the Tourism Minister flagged-in 4th Mughal Road Car Rally 2013 after its return to Srinagar at Royal Spring Golf Course, Srinagar.
While addressing the participants, the Minister said that this kind of events will open ways for many more events of Motor Rally, Mountain Biking and other such sports. He said that the government is endeavouring to give considerable fillip to tourism in Jammu & Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Team Simula made history by winning the 4th edition of Mughal Road Car Rally in TSD category. This is for the first time that a local team sponsored by a J&K based company has blossomed in such an event. Aditya and Vishu and Mustafa and Asgar Ali clinched top positions in their own categories and bagged first and second position respectively, to help their team win TSD team trophy.
The Minister said that the efforts are on to promote quality tourism in the State and in this regard high end tourist activities are being carried out in the State to attract foreign tourists to the State.
Commissioner Secretary Tourism and Culture, Atul Dulloo in his address said that organizing such event would prove helpful to promote adventure tourism in the State.
Director Tourism, Kashmir threw detailed light on the steps taken by the Department for promotion of varied tourism activities in the Valley.
Chairman Sports Board, Jammu and Kashmir Bank, the Co-sponsored of the event, said that J&K Bank is providing all possible assistance for promotion of sports in the State. He said that the Organization would continue extend its assistance to the Association for holding such rally’s in future. He said the Bank is also developing a football stadium at Narbal.
President, Himalayan Motor sport Association, Shimla, Vijay Parmar presented vote of thanks.
