BARAMULLA, Dec 24: The 3rd District Baramulla Boxing Championship was held at the Indoor Sports Stadium, Baramulla, organized by the J&K Amateur Boxing Association under the aegis of the Boxing Federation of India and J&K Olympic Association, and sponsored by the J&K Sports Council. Around 60 boxers from various zones of District Baramulla participated.
The event was graced by DySP Traffic Kashmir as chief guest. Officials of the District Baramulla Amateur Boxing Association expressed satisfaction over the smooth conduct of the championship, highlighting its role in identifying and nurturing grassroots talent.
In the Sub-Junior Boys category, Sabit Qyoom clinched gold in the 32-35kg category, followed by Suhaib Ahmad with silver and Zahid Fayaz with bronze. In the 35-37kg class, Zubair Yosuf won gold, Usman Mushtaq silver and Kamran Maqbool bronze. The 37-40kg category saw Aarif Ul Muzaffar take gold, Danish Hassan silver and both Adnan Nazir and Uzar sharing bronze.
Among the Sub-Junior Girls, Sabia Manzoor won gold in the 43-45kg category, with Hoor Bin taking silver and Aayash Ayub and Nusrat Nabi earning bronze medals.
In the Junior Boys category, Ibraheem Shah emerged victorious in the 48-50kg class. In the 57-60kg division, Aman Imtiyaz secured gold, M. Hamza silver and Raja Haris bronze.
The Senior Boys category witnessed Aijaz Majeed winning gold in the 65-70kg, Mohsin claiming silver and Tanveer Ahmad bronze. In the +90kg, Khalid Ahmad bagged gold, while Aadil Bahadur took silver.
In the Youth category, Kaisar Ramzan won gold in the 50-52kg class, Huzaif Qyoom silver, and Mohsin bronze. In the 54-56kg division, Yazdam claimed gold, Absar Ahmad silver, and Burhan Bashir bronze.
