POONCH, Nov 8: The 36th Poonch Table Tennis Championship continued with thrilling matches in cadet and sub-junior categories. Cadet boy Bilawal dominated his group, defeating Yuvraj Suri by 2-0 and Yuvraj Luthra by 3-0 in the final, while Yuvraj Suri and Darvik Dutta also displayed commendable performances.
In sub-junior boys, Darwik beat Yuvraj Suri 2-0, and Mashook defeated Yuvraj Luthra by 2-0. Bilawal then edged past Darwik by 2-0, with Gursheesh defeating Bilawal by 2-1 in the semifinals. Adnan outclassed Mashook by 2-0 and went on to clinch the sub-junior boys title, defeating Gursheesh by 3-0 in a commanding final.
Sub-junior girls Ashley Gupta dominated Sonakshi Suri by 3-0 to claim the championship. The matches were held under the supervision of Narinder Singh (PEM), Zaffer Ahmed, Nishant Bhalla and Sandeep Luthra. Saleem Bandey, General Secretary of the Poonch Table Tennis Association, confirmed that second and third round matches for remaining categories will be held tomorrow. The tournament continues to provide a platform for young talent to shine.
