KISHTWAR, Aug 7: The 2nd District Kishtwar Amateur Athletics Meet was held at the historic Chowgan Ground, witnessing enthusiastic participation from over 200 young athletes-boys and girls-from across the district. The event featured a wide range of track and field competitions, including 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m and 3000m races, along with shot put and discus throw.
The programme was graced by Tehsildar Nagseni, Mohd. Rafi Naik as the chief guest and Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, District Information Officer Kishtwar, as the guest of honour. Their motivating presence uplifted the morale of the participants. Sanjeev Parihar, Chairman of Ashaian Hostel Orphanage, also attended the event and generously sponsored refreshments for all athletes and officials, adding a warm touch to the day.
The meet was conducted smoothly by a team of dedicated officials including Suman Kant (PET), Vishal Bhandari, Sohit Krishan and Amit Sen, ensuring fair and professional coordination. Chief guest Mohd. Rafi Naik commended the spirit and discipline of the athletes and encouraged them to balance sports with academics for holistic development.
