JAMMU, Mar 8: The 2nd All India Police Kabaddi Cluster 2025-26 was inaugurated today at Maulana Azad Stadium by former DGP Ashok Bhan, marking the start of a week-long sporting extravaganza organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police. The event, running from March 7 to 12 across various venues in Jammu, brings together police sportspersons from across the country.
The tournament, organized under the supervision of Anand Jain, ADG Armed J&K, features competitions in Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Fencing and Gymnastics, highlighting the athletic excellence, discipline and teamwork of police personnel. A total of 1,648 athletes-1,071 men and 577 women-are participating along with team managers, technical officials, NADA officials and representatives from the All-India Police Sports Control Board, bringing overall participation to 1,798, making it one of the largest police sporting events in India.
Teams from various Central Armed Police Forces, including BSF, CRPF, SSB, CISF, Assam Rifles, RPF and ITBP, as well as all State and UT Police organisations, are competing in the tournament.
Speaking at the inauguration on International Women’s Day, Ashok Bhan lauded the participation of women police and CAPF athletes, noting their growing empowerment and vital role in the forces. “Their presence reflects dedication and sporting excellence. We extend our warm greetings to all women participants,” he said.
Among others present on the occasion were MK Sinha, ADGP Hqrs; Gareeb Dass, Director SKPA Udhampur, Nitish Kumar, ADGP CID J&K, BS Tuti, IGP Jammu Zone, Uttam Chand, IGP Hqrs; Suleiman Choudhary, IGP Traffic J&K and Vivek Gupta IGP Traffic J&K. All DIGs of Jammu Zone, District SSPs of Jammu Zone, AIGsP, Commandants of Jammu-based battalions and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
