1st UT level Beach Wrestling C’ship concludes

JAMMU, Aug 17: One day long 1st J&K UT level Beach Wrestling Championship, organised by Wrestling Association of J&K in collaboration with J&K Sports Council and J&K Olympic Association, concluded at Bajrangi Akhara Shalamar, here today.
The wrestlers from all over J&K Union Territory took part in the championship. The winner wrestlers of their respective weight categories shall take part in 1st Senior Beach Men and Women National Wrestling Championship which is scheduled to be held at Beach Resort Complex, Tamil Nadu Tourism Development East Coast Road Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu from August 29 to 30.
In 70 kg, Rahul Mehra clinched Gold, whereas Deep Kumar and Keshav Singh secured Silver and Bronze medals respectively, whereas in 80 kg Mohd Hafiz (JKP), Shamahoon (JKP) and Gulshan Chib secured top three medals respectively and in 90 kg, Gold, Silver and Bronze medals were bagged by Nissar Ahmed, Nadeem Ahmed (Doda), and Rajesh Sharma (JKP) respectively besides in 90 plus kg, Javed Khan (JKP) won Gold and Vireshwar Bhardwaj clinched Silver medal.
Pardeep Sharma, co-convener of BJP J&K Sports Cell was chief guest on the closing ceremony who distributed medals among the winners, whereas Sahil Sharma Wrestling coach was also present at the closing ceremony and shared his technical experiences with the budding wrestlers during the event.
Dheeraj Sharma, Raju Sharma, Rohit Chhibber, Madhupal Singh, Jai Bharat and Sharan Lal were among the prominent who were present during the event. The competition was conducted under the technical committee headed by Om Parkash senior wrestling coach JKP with the help of Ravinder Kumar, Krishan Singh and Anil Kumar.
