1st Police Martyrs Volleyball tourney concludes

POONCH, Jan 20: Shaheed DySP Manjit Singh Memorial Volleyball Club, Poonch, lifted the trophy at the inaugural Police Martyrs Volleyball Tournament after defeating Shaheed Mumtaz Club Chandak in straight sets 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-12) at Degree College Ground, Poonch. Organised by District Police Poonch, the tournament was held as a solemn tribute to police martyrs and witnessed spirited participation from 12 teams across the district.
The final match drew a large crowd, including senior police officers, families of martyrs, prominent citizens and sports enthusiasts. The tournament aimed to promote sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, communal harmony and to channel youth energy into constructive pursuits.
SSP Poonch Shafket Hussain congratulated all teams for their performance and highlighted the inspiration drawn from the sacrifices of police martyrs. He emphasised the role of sports in building character, promoting unity, and steering youth away from social evils like drug abuse.
Krishan Lal Sharma, chief guest, distributed trophies, medals and certificates to winners and runners-up and presented Rs 30,000 to the champions and Rs 20,000 to the runners-up.
The District Police announced that Police Martyrs Volleyball Tournament will now be held annually, reaffirming its commitment to youth empowerment, community engagement, and honouring the legacy of fallen heroes.
