1st Police Martyrs Volleyball tourney commences

POONCH, Jan 18: In a tribute to police martyrs, Poonch Police inaugurated the 1st Edition of the Police Martyrs Volleyball Tournament at Degree College Ground, here today.
The event saw participation from 12 teams representing various areas of the district, promoting sportsmanship, youth engagement, and community cohesion.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by SSP Poonch, Shafket Hussain, who formally flagged off the tournament. Addressing the gathering, he paid homage to martyrs, including Amjad Pathan and highlighted their courage, dedication and sacrifice for the nation. He urged youth to stay away from drugs and channel their energy into sports, emphasizing that sports build discipline, teamwork, and resilience.
SSP Hussain also warned drug peddlers of strict action, including property attachment and announced that the tournament will be held annually. The event was attended by prominent citizens, families of martyrs and police officials, with cultural performances adding to the patriotic spirit. Matches commenced immediately, showcasing enthusiasm, discipline, and competitive zeal.
