JAMMU, Dec 10: Team Jain Bazar claimed the title in the 1st J&K Open Chess Premier League organized by VCA Jammu under the Khelo Jammu Mission, winning the trophy, certificate and Rs 3,000 cash prize. The victorious team comprised Superb Jain (Captain), Gunjan Nishad and Mitansh Magotra.
Seven teams participated with three players each – one rated player, one woman and one U-15 player – totalling 21 participants. The runner-up was Udhampur-2 with players Raman Gupta (Captain), Nitika and Prince, while third place went to Mast Garh-1 featuring Lakshya Chowdhary (Captain), Ishaan Chowdhary and Raesha Thothla.
The tournament consisted of seven rounds with intense matches among teams including Mast Garh-2, Peerkhoo, Subash Nagar, and Udhampur-1. Mohit Bharti, CDPO Jammu, presented awards to the winners. The league provided a platform to showcase strategic talent and promote competitive chess across J&K.
