JAMMU, Jan 23: The 1st Jammu Gold Cup Football Tournament 2026, organised by Young Hero Club Jammu in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council began with exciting matches here today.
In the opening match, SCFA edged out Jammu United by 1-0 in a closely contested game. In the second match, J&K Bank Academy defeated Young Sports by 3-1. Goals for J&K Bank Academy came from Abhi, Sourav and Ariz, while Abhijyot scored the lone goal for Young Sports.
The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of chief guest Yudhvir Sethi, MLA East and guest of honour Dr Vinod Bakshi, Director Physical Education, Cluster University Jammu. Also present were Adarsh Jathiar, Harvinder Singh, Jeevan Sharma and international and national players including Ramesh Chander, Kamal Kumar, Moon Madan Stephen, Abhay Samnotra and Abhinandan Samnotra.
