KARGIL, Nov 9: The 1st Fateh Cup Football Tournament 2025 was inaugurated at the Astro Turf Football Ground, Khel Gaon, Kurbathang, here today, with great enthusiasm. Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, CEC, LAHDC Kargil, was the chief guest, while Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh, attended as guest of honour.
Organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh, in collaboration with Kargil Football Association and supported by the Indian Army, the tournament commemorates the bravery and sacrifices of soldiers from the Kargil conflicts of 1948 and 1999. Eight leading football clubs from Kargil are participating.
Dr. Akhoon appreciated the organisers and highlighted ongoing efforts to develop sports infrastructure, urging players to exhibit dedication and sportsmanship. Zubdavi emphasised the tournament’s role in fostering patriotism and assured plans to expand it in the future, inspiring youth through football.
