JAMMU, Aug 23: The 14th JK UT Shooting Championship 2025 commenced, at IDPS, here today. The event was inaugurated by Dilbag Singh, former DGP J&K and Patron-in-Chief of J&K Rifle Association (JKRA). The championship, organised by JKRA under the aegis of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) and J&K Sports Council, will run from August 23 to 29.
Dilbag Singh praised the growing passion for shooting among youth, calling it “a sport of discipline, concentration and precision,” and lauded the talent emerging from Jammu & Kashmir.
Surinder Singh Sodhi, Chairman of the Organising Committee and President of JKRA, welcomed dignitaries and participants, highlighting the visionary support from the Lieutenant Governor of J&K and Prime Minister of India under the Khelo India initiative. He encouraged young shooters to excel and spoke of his efforts in promoting shooting across J&K and Ladakh.
Over 150 shooters from across the UT will compete at IDPS Sunjwan Shooting Range, DYSS Shooting Range Gandhinagar and NCC Shooting Range Nagrota, under the supervision of Sharat Chander Singh, Organising Secretary.
Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, Chairman JKRA, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to dignitaries including Ashok Kumar, Paramjeet Singh, Samar Dev Singh, Arun Mansotra, Manu Pratap Singh Wazir, Rahul Bakshi, Nirmaljeet Singh, Vineet Gupta, Anupam Sambyal, Madhupal Singh, Rajesh Virdi and Vishal Mehra.
Special thanks were extended to Manisha Choudhary, Arunima Choudhary, Suminder Singh, Swarn Choudhary and Principal Randeep Wazir of IDPS for their sponsorship and support. The event began on a note of pride, setting the stage for a week of sporting excellence.
