SRINAGAR, Sept 14: The 10th State Level Pencak Silat Championship 2025-26 concluded at Indoor Stadium Polo Ground, here today, after three days of intense competition. held from September 12 to 14, the event saw the participation of over 1,200 athletes from various schools, colleges, clubs and academies across Jammu and Kashmir.
Organized by the Pencak Silat Association of J&K and sponsored by the J&K Sports Council, the championship showcased the growing popularity of the martial art in the region. Hilal Ahmed, Manager of the Indoor Sports Complex, was chief guest at closing ceremony and lauded the athletes for their dedication and sportsmanship.
Association President Nasir Digoo and General Secretary Tariq Zargar congratulated the participants for their efforts and highlighted upcoming opportunities for young players. Notably, the Pencak Silat Federation of India is set to introduce a three-month training program with an international coach, benefiting around 100 athletes nationwide.
Participants also expressed excitement for the upcoming 3rd Junior Asian Championship, expected later this month, which will allow athletes to gain international exposure. The J&K Chief Coach expressed optimism about the UT’s capability to host global events in the near future. The event concluded with enthusiasm and high hopes for the sport’s future in the region.
