JAMMU, Mar 29: The 10th Jammu & Kashmir UT Softball Championship 2025-26 was today declared open at GGM Science College, Jammu, drawing enthusiastic participation from athletes across 14 districts of the Union Territory.
The three-day championship is being organized by the J&K Sports Council in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Softball Association. Speaking on the occasion, Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, highlighted the Council’s initiatives to promote Softball and other sports in the region. She emphasized the potential of Softball, an Olympic and Asian Games sport, in Jammu & Kashmir and praised the organizers for their efforts in advancing sports across the UT.
Over 450 athletes and officials are participating across Sub-Junior (Boys & Girls), Junior (Boys & Girls), and Senior (Men & Women) categories. The championship, sponsored by the J&K Sports Council, will conclude on March 31.
The opening ceremony was graced by Divisional Sports Officer Central, Javed Ur Rehman, along with the Incharge Manager of the Football Ground at GGM Science College, officials of the Sports Council, sports personalities, district unit heads, sports lovers, and international Softball athletes. The event showcased both competitive spirit and a commitment to promoting Softball in the Union Territory.
