POONCH, Nov 11: The two-day 10th District Handball Championship for senior men commenced, here today, organized by the Handball Association Poonch under the aegis of the J&K Handball Association in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council.
A total of six teams from across the district are participating in the league-cum-knockout event. The championship was declared open by Mohd Qasim, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Poonch.
Prominent guests present included Ram Parkash, Ghulam Abass, Sorab Sharma, D.K. Raina, Aman Sharma, Anjuman Shaheen, Nitu Sharma, Gurmeet Kour and Imtiaz Ahmed.
In today’s matches, Poonch Handball Club defeated Dara Dullian Handball Club by 30-24, while Ajote Handball Club got the better of Surankote Handball Club. The matches were officiated by Imtiaz Ahmed Lone, Ghulam Abass and Aman Sharma.
