BHADERWAH, Nov 29: 10 days ‘Hiking and Trekking Expedition’, organised by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education (SPE) University of Jammu, concluded, here today.
On concluding day, a simple but impressive valedictory function was organized at Lad Ded Auditorium of Bhaderwah Campus which was attended by different dignitaries from University of Jammu, Indian Army and Bhaderwah Campus besides students of different affiliated colleges who participated in the expedition.
A colourful cultural bonanza was also presented by the master Farooq’s cultural group depicting culture of Bhaderwah and its adjoining areas.
The valedictory function was conducted by Arif Haleem Khateeb, External Relations Officer Bhaderwah Campus.
Director SPE Jammu University Dr Daud Iqbal Baba said that our motive was to explore the hidden beauty of Bhaderwah to attract adventure enthusiasts to this valley and to make siren destinations like Bhadarwah an all season attraction for the tourists.
“After exploring Markha Valley of Ladakh last year, today we completed our 10 days Hiking and Trekking Expedition in Bhaderwah valley, this valley possess ample scope for adventure enthusiast and can be developed as a major attraction for adventure lovers in the winters as well,” Dr Daud added.
He also thanked Rashtriya Rifles and Bhaderwah Campus for its collaboration with the said event as a goodwill gesture.
Tahir Nadeem Khan Yusafzai senior journalist while speaking on the occasion said that such events will help in exploring the unexplored tracks of Bhaderwah. “Bhaderwah known for its natural beauty needs to be explored further,” he added.
During the expedition, the trekkers explored different locations in and around Bhaderwah and Jai including Ashapati Glacier, Guldanda, Bheja, Khanni Top, Thanthera, Bask Challa, Hanga, Mathola, Jai Gathi and Bash Dhar.
The officials present on the occasion were Dr Abid Sarwar, Ravish Vaid, Jai Bharat, Arshad Baba, Harvinder Paul Singh and Sanjeev Sharma.
Dr Jatinder Manhas Head Computer Sciences Bhaderwah Campus congratulated department concerned for organising such event. “Bhaderwah Campus will also provide all the assistance for such events in future also,” he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that the expedition was flagged-off by Director SPE Jammu University Dr Daud Iqbal Baba along with other dignitaries from Bhadarwah Campus on December 21.
