JAMMU, Oct 14: Appreciating Union Cabinet for giving nod to IIM in Jammu region, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today said that Rajouri is middle place of Kashmir and Jammu regions so IIM must be opened there.
“The IIM is not meant for Jammu city but Union Government has approved the same for whole province which is comprised of 10 districts”, he said in a statement, adding “Rajouri is the best place for IIM as the people of this area remained neglected in all respects and are now pinning hope on the present dispensation for justice”.
He said that there will be no issue on the opening of IIM  at Rajouri and neither people from Kashmir will object it nor  people of Jammu have any problem to Rajouri area. He added that the acceptable place for people of both regions is Rajouri and Government of India must consider this demand and open IIM at Rajouri.
“Rajouri is topographically and culturally fit both for the students of Kashmir and Jammu area and people from both sides will opt this environmentally better place to study management”, the Minister said.
Terming regional disparity as biggest roadblock in the development of sub regions, Minister said that Jammu province should not be considered as one Jammu district and leadership of Jammu must show sympathy with Pir Panjal region also where IIM can be opened for the benefit of the people.
He added that the development of Rajouri and Poonch remained standstill during militancy and people felt alienated on all fronts due to only reason that previous Governments considered Jammu district as Jammu province and never concentrated on other parts. “Pir Panjal area need most of the attention of the State and Central Government and the place is most suited for IIM”, he further said, adding “people of Pir Panjal area need an educational boost to uplift their standard”.
