Samba, May 18: A meeting of Zila Sainik Welfare Board (ZSWB) was convened under the chairmanship of District Development Commi-ssioner Samba Sheetal Nanda, here today.
The meeting was also attended by ADDC Vivek Sharma, ADC Inderjeet, ASP, CPO,CEO, Districts officers and members of Zila Sainik Welfare Board.
Zila Sainik Welfare Officer Col.S.S.Pathania made a presentation for highlighting the details of activities of the board and presented account of schemes viz one time incentive to children securing 60% marks in board exams, 70% in graduation, 65% in P.G course, penury grants to non pensioners, daughter marriage grants, coal tipper schemes for war widows and monetary help rendered to the Ex-ServiceMen (ESM).
In the meeting various issues were highlighted related to rehabilitation of ex-servicemen, disabled soldiers and wards of war widows, provision of generator or captive power, cleaning of area of thick vegetation, provisions for providing modified scooter for paraplegic soldiers. The ex-servicemen also highlighted their problems which includes provision of power supply during late hours in Veer Bhumi park, facility of street light on national highway, cleanliness of overhead tanks, BSNL network problems in border areas which creates hinderance in communication, problem of ration supply and road connectivity, undue charging of fare by Auto, crop damage compensation.
DDC Samba issued directions to district officers to address the problems raised by ex-servicemen, She further directed ARTO to check overloading and monitor the displaying of fare list on every vechile. The directions were passed to CAPD to check problem of ration supply. DDC informed the house that assessment of crop damage is already in process and after completion of Girdawri, the process for crop compensation will be done. DDC directed all officers to bring transparency and accountability and cooperate with public and especially widows and ex-servicemen and redress their problems on priority basis.
