Youth arrested for circulating fake currency

LEH, Mar 30: A youth was arrested for printing and circulating fake currency notes here.
As per police sources, on the basis of a complaint lodged by a monk with police station Leh an inquiry was initiated and a 27-year old youth was apprehended for circulating fake currency.
A case under FIR Number 11/17 under Sections 420, 489 B and 489 D RPC stands registered in police station Leh and further investigation is going on.
SHO Leh Tsewang Dorjay said that police initiated inquiry after receiving a complaint from a monk.
“Two notes of Rs 2000 denominations and a scanner machine have been seized from the accused”, he said, adding that police managed to arrest the youth after going through the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the market areas.
SHO said that the alleged accused used to target aged people and monks to exchange the scanned notes on pretext of buying items.
