JAMMU, June 9: A young woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her rented accommodation at New Plot area of Jammu district this evening, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Suhani Singh (22), daughter of Kewal Singh of Kishanpur, Manwal, presently residing at Pacca Talab in the New Plot area.
According to locals, her parents repeatedly tried to contact her over the phone but received no response.
They then informed the landlord, who forced open the door of her first-floor room and found her unconscious. Police were immediately alerted.
Accordingly, a police team reached the spot and shifted her to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
While the body has been kept in the mortuary for post-mortem examination, police have initiated inquest proceedings to ascertain the cause of death of the young woman.
