Young Performers Shine in D-Drama’s Small Wonders Production

Jammu, July 7: A 10-day theatre workshop titled Small Wonders concluded with a heartwarming stage production of The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes, based on the acclaimed children’s book by Mark Pett and Gary Rubinstein. The workshop was conducted under the mentorship of Delight William Kler, eminent Theatre in Education practitioner and Director of D-Drama at Scottish Hall Academy, Jammu.

Designed for children between the ages of four and six years, the workshop focused on nurturing confidence, communication, creativity, teamwork, and self-expression through the medium of theatre. Over the course of ten days, the young participants explored drama through games, movement, storytelling, music, and role play before culminating in a polished stage performance.

The final presentation delighted a packed audience of parents, teachers, and well-wishers. The children impressed everyone with their confidence, enthusiasm, expressive performances, and remarkable stage presence, receiving resounding applause for their outstanding efforts.

The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Shailla Cannie, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, and a nationally acclaimed nursing educationist and healthcare leader. Commending the young performers, she appreciated the transformative role of theatre in fostering creativity, confidence, emotional intelligence, communication skills, and holistic development during the formative years of childhood.

Speaking on the occasion, Delight William Kler highlighted that Theatre in Education is not merely about preparing children for the stage but about preparing them for life by helping them become confident, empathetic, imaginative, and effective communicators. she expressed gratitude to the parents for their trust and support and congratulated the young performers for their dedication and enthusiasm throughout the workshop.

The successful presentation of Small Wonders once again reflected D-Drama’s commitment to creating meaningful learning experiences where every child is encouraged to discover their voice, embrace mistakes as opportunities to learn, and celebrate the joy of creative expression.
