ANANTNAG, June 09: Senior Kashmiri Pandit leader and general secretary, Vishaw Kashmiri Samaj, M.K. Yogi, has expressed serious concern over withdrawal of security from hamlets inhibited by minority Pandits in South Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, today Yogi said this way a sense of insecurity has been created among these hapless people who despite all odds preferred to stay in their homeland during last 37 years of turmoil.
Yogi demanded the security in all villages of South Kashmir inhabited by minorities be restored without further delay to restore the confidence of the miniscule minorities.
He stated that reports of reduced security arrangements have created apprehension, uncertainty, and anxiety among minority residents, who now fear for their safety and well-being. In this regard, he appealed to the District administration Anantnag, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag, and senior officials of the Jammu and Kashmir Police to immediately review the situation and restore security measures wherever necessary.
He also demanded adequate arrangements for devotees during the concluding days of the ongoing religious congregation at Mattan.
He said heavy influx of pilgrims is expected on the final two days of the event, all arrangements needed to be made for convenience of visiting pilgrims.
He noted that a large number of pilgrims and visitors are expected to arrive from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir, including Jammu, Kathua, Rajouri, Ramban, Doda, and Kishtwar, as well as from neighbouring states such as Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
In view of the anticipated rush, Yogi urged the authorities to make comprehensive and well-coordinated arrangements for lodging, boarding, sanitation, medical assistance, drinking water, transportation, and crowd management so that devotees can undertake their pilgrimage in a safe, comfortable, and dignified manner.
