JAMMU, May 23: On the 42nd day of the ongoing 78-day Yajna of all four Vedas at Veda Mandir, Yol (Himachal Pradesh), Swami Ram Swarup, Yogacharya, explained the significance of Yajurveda Mantra 1/2 and described Yajna as the greatest of all actions that benefits humanity and leads one toward attaining God.
Addressing devotees during the spiritual discourse, Swami Ji said that Yajna is highly praiseworthy as it sustains the world and brings noble happiness to all. Referring to the mantra, he said God instructs learned persons and yajmans never to abandon Yajna because it supports creation and promotes universal welfare.
Explaining the scientific and spiritual importance of the ritual, Swami Ji said that fragrant, nourishing and germ-destroying offerings made into the sacred fire along with Vedic mantras transform into a subtle form and spread through the atmosphere. He said these elements purify the air and contribute to pure rainfall, which in turn leads to healthy crops, grains and fruits. Consumption of such pure food, he added, helps in developing sound intellect and physical strength among children, thereby strengthening the nation.
Swami Ji further stated that the same principle was highlighted by Lord Krishna in Chapter 3, Verse 14 of the Bhagavad Gita. He said both Lord Rama and Lord Krishna followed the Vedic path and performed Yajna throughout their lives for the welfare of the world.
Expressing concern over the present state of society, Swami Ji said people have become unhappy because they have drifted away from Vedic teachings and no longer practice Yajna. He added that Yajurveda Mantra 1/2 clearly states that Yajna sustains happiness, promotes well-being and helps destroy diseases, but people today remain unaware of its importance as very few listen to the teachings of the Vedas.
